This moontastic workshop helps lunar learners find out about our nearest rocky satellite.

Mini Moon Explorers drop-in workshop

Mini Moon Explorers will find out how the Moon was formed, guess the distance to the Moon, and test what the lunar surface might be like. They’ll make an Earth-Moon-Sun orrery and messy craters, and learn about the phases of the Moon… all in a fun and creative way.

This super fun Space Workshop is aimed at children from age 5 upwards. A perfect fit for Key Stage 1 children learning about the Moon for their Space Topic. It’s also great as a drop-in workshop for science fairs and special events.

Each workshop lasts about 45 minutes and works best with small groups of about 15 Mini Moon Explorers. We need an extra 15 minutes between sessions to tidy up and prep for the next workshop.

If you only have a small group or a single class, why not combine a half day Mini Moon Explorers workshop with a planetarium show for the cost of a half day in the planetarium.

COSTS

The costs for our Mini Moon Explorers workshop are:
Half day: £200
Full day: £300

ADD-ON: reduced costs available if booked with other activities… ask for details
Price includes all materials and specialist equipment.

TRAVEL & OVERNIGHT STAY

We travel to the following counties in South East England: East Sussex, West Sussex, Surrey, Kent and parts of Greater London south of the Thames. Travel is charged at 45p per mile from our base in Hastings to your venue and back again. If the journey will take us over 1½ hours, we charge for an overnight stay which costs an extra £45. If our journey includes tolls and ferry charges, these will be added too.

LOCATION & SPACE

This is a messy workshop which needs lots of space. So a classroom with tables and chairs moved to the side of the room is idea. We’ll need a couple of tables pushed together at the front of the class to do demos. We use flour and cocoa powder, which will need to be vacuumed off the floor after the workshop.
