Our astronomy courses offer something for everyone – from complete newbies to enthusiastic observers – learning in the classroom and observing outside whenever we can.

COVID-19 UPDATE: With social distancing easing and education settings re-opening in September, our Astronomy School will be offering all courses from the start of the Autumn Term. We’ll be capping enrolment at 10 students per course and will use a big classroom to allow everyone to be at least one meter apart.

All of our astronomy courses are written and delivered by our Founder, Melanie Davies. Melanie studied Geoscience and Physics at the Open University and went on to study Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Sussex. She is an elected Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, and gives regular talks and lectures in astronomy across the UK. She is also a regular contributor to Popular Astronomy magazine.

Running in Hastings, East Sussex, these courses have been designed for all, no matter what your level of knowledge or ability; all you need is enthusiasm and a passion for astronomy! All learning styles are catered for: visual (seeing), auditory (listening) and kinaesthetic (doing). Which means… plenty of presentations, including images and video; lecture-style talks with Q&As; plus quizzes and hands-on activities.

Each course will have lots of supporting material to take home, plus if you miss a lesson and need to catch up, each course has its own online course page where you can download the things you’ve missed and (only if you want to) carry on your learning journey with independent study.

From learning how to set up a telescope straight out of the box, to understanding the structure of stars, the courses below really will offer something for everyone. Learn, practise, enjoy!
